Privacy notice

This notice explains what happens to the details you send us through this website. In short: we use them to reply to you and to talk through your gift, and nothing else.

Who we are

This website is run by Just4Fun Merchandise, based in Kingston upon Hull. We are responsible for the personal information you send through it.

You can contact us about your information at just4fun@zucker.karoo.co.uk, through our contact form, or by post at 89 Severn Street, Hull HU8 8TQ, United Kingdom.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry, custom order idea or message, we collect:

  • your name and email address, so we can reply;
  • your phone number and how you’d like us to reply, if you choose to give them;
  • the details of your request — the gift you’re asking about, options, the wording you’d like, the occasion, when you need it and any notes;
  • a reference photo, if you choose to attach one.

The wording you send may include other people’s names or dates (for example, the person the gift is for). Please only include what’s needed for the gift.

To stop spam, the website briefly keeps a scrambled version of your internet (IP) address, hashed with a secret key, so it can limit how many forms are sent from one connection. When it emails you to confirm your enquiry has arrived, it also keeps a scrambled version of your email address in the same way, so the form can’t be used to flood anyone’s inbox. We don’t use either to identify you, and both are deleted automatically, normally within two days.

Our hosting provider also keeps routine technical logs, such as visitors’ IP addresses, to run and secure the website.

Why we use it

  • To answer your enquiry and discuss or make your order — because you’ve asked us to, before entering into an agreement with us.
  • To keep the website secure and free of spam — because we have a legitimate interest in protecting it.

We don’t use your details for marketing, we don’t sell them, and we don’t make automated decisions about you. Your name, your email and a description of what you’d like are needed so we can reply; everything else is optional.

Who sees it

Your enquiry is seen by us. The companies that host this website, store its data and deliver its emails process it on our behalf, only to provide those services.

  • Netlify — hosts the website and runs its forms (USA)
  • Neon — stores enquiries in the website's database (UK)
  • Backblaze (B2) — stores product photos and photos sent with enquiries (USA)
  • Resend — delivers the website's emails (USA)

If you pay for an order by card, you pay through Stripe’s secure payment form. Stripe processes your payment details and emails your receipt; we never see your card number. Stripe’s own privacy notice (stripe.com/privacy) explains how it uses that information.

How long we keep it

The website keeps a copy of each enquiry, including any photo, so nothing gets lost, then deletes it automatically 365 days after the last step: when you sent it, when we sent you a payment link, or when you paid. Each enquiry is also emailed to our own inbox; we keep that email only for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry or order, then delete it. If your enquiry becomes an order, we keep the order details for as long as the law requires us to keep business records.

Cookies

We don’t use cookies for visitors to this website — no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookie is a strictly necessary one that keeps the shop owner signed in to the private admin area. It’s called j4f_admin, it’s only set on the /admin pages, and it lasts 30 days from the owner’s last visit.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it or object to how we use it. You can also ask for a copy in a format you can take elsewhere. Just get in touch using the details above — there’s no charge.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. We’ll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and let you know the outcome. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint (opens in a new tab).
